Rehabilitation

The sub-acute rehabilitation center at Saunders House offers cost-effective medical management and physical rehabilitation. The center is an alternative for those well enough to leave an acute-care hospital but not yet well enough to return home.

The services are coordinated among our expert and dedicated nursing, rehabilitation, medical, and discharge planning professionals. In addition, our individualized care plans and one-on-one treatments focus on measurable outcomes for each resident's recovery.

The expert staff of physical, occupational, and speech therapists helps residents regain their functioning so they can return home safely. These services are provided in a sub-acute unit equipped with a rehabilitation gym. Ultimately, the goal of our sub-acute unit is to help residents improve their quality of life and regain an independent, active lifestyle.

Restorative Care

To help residents attain or maintain their highest level of function, Saunders House offers restorative nursing care. This program is available to supplement skilled physical and occupational therapy or to help residents maintain their flexibility and function after skilled therapy has been completed. Residents in the restorative nursing program perform individualized exercise programs guided by specially-trained nursing assistants. Restorative exercises include:

  • Transfer training
  • Ambulation/stair climbing
  • Range of motion/strengthening exercises

The program is overseen by a licensed nursing professional who works in close contact with the director of rehabilitation.
