Saunders House Appoints Dr. Firas Saidi as New Medical Director

Saunders House is pleased to announce that, effective May 2, 2014, Dr. Firas Saidi was appointed the Medical Director of Saunders House, and Dr. Charles Breish was appointed the Associate Medical Director. Dr. Saidi succeeds Dr.Bruce Silver who served Saunders House as Medical Director for over 36 years.

Dr. Saidi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, specializing in Geriatrics. He has served as the Medical Director of the Lankenau Transitional Care Unit since 2005 and has been affiliated with Main Line Health since 2004. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, and he completed his Geriatric Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. Susan Irrgang, Executive Director of Saunders House, commented, “We are extremely fortunate to have a physician with Dr. Saidi’s education and experience to lead the Medical Services at Saunders House.”

Dr. Saidi has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Saunders House.

Dr. Charlie Breish is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine, specializing in Geriatrics. He has been treating residents at Saunders House for almost two years. Dr. Breish completed his residency at Temple University Hospital, and he completed his Geriatric Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He has been affiliated with Main Line Health since 2011. Dr. Breish will be working with the medical residents from the Main Line Health Internal Medicine residency program during their visits to Saunders House.

Speaking about the new medical leadership, Executive Director Irrgang stated, “Together with the existing physicians who are so committed to the mission of the organization, we believe this new era in medical leadership at Saunders House will help us provide even better quality care to the residents we serve.”

Founded in 1864, and located in Wynnewood since 1973, Saunders House is one of the leading centers for long term care and rehabilitation services in the Greater Philadelphia region.
